Guardiola provides injury update on Gondugan

The Manchester City midfielder sustained a shoulder injury in his side’s match against Tottenham on Sunday.

Manchester City were

defeated

1-0 by Tottenham in their opening match of the 2021-22 season.

Ilkay Gundogan

played the full 90 minutes against the Spurs, but he was seen with a strapping on his shoulder after the game.

In a post-match interview, Guardiola confirmed the Germany international will undergo tests to indicate the severity of his injury.

“It was something in his shoulder,”

the City boss said.

"We will see what happens tomorrow (Monday) with the doctor.

"It looks like something happened.”

Asked about the absence of

Kevin De Bruyne

, the Spaniard responded:

"Kevin played a few minutes but Kevin didn't do one full session because of his ankle," he added. "Kyle [Walker] and John [Stones] and Ayme [ric Laporte] came back really, really well and Gabriel [Jesus] as well but the guys who have been here since the beginning for us deserve to play."

Gundogan might miss Manchester City’s upcoming match against the newly-promoted Norwich on Sunday. Guardiola’s side will then face Arsenal on August 28, which will be their last game before the international break.
