star

Leonardo Spinazzola

, who had an impressive performance in the Euro 2020, will have to go through surgery on his Achilles tendon in Finland after seeing himself out of the tournament earlier than he expected.

The Roma left-back won two man-of-the-match rewards in Euro 2020 before getting injured in his side’s 2-1 win against Belgium in the quarter-final. He was taken out while feeling so much pain, and although they haven’t realized how long he will be away, it is expected to be a long-term injury for the high-profile left-back as the immediate diagnosis on his injury was Achilles tendon tear, and the reports suggest that the exact problem would be a subcutaneous rupture of the left Achilles tendon.

Sky Sport Italia has reported that Spinazzola’s club has decided to send the player to Finland to continue his recovery under specialist Professor Sakari Orava at the NEO Hospital in Turku.

The 28-year-old star who has made 39 appearances for Roma will probably have to go through surgery and will be away from the field for four to six months, depending on the degree of the tear to the tendon.
