Premier League fixtures 2021-2022 announced

The Cityzens' Premier League crown defense will begin at Tottenham Hotspur.

On the opening weekend of the

Premier League

, the reigning champs Manchester City travels to Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester United travels to Leeds United, while Arsenal travels to Brentford.

Pep Guardiola's team won their third Premier League title in four seasons in 2020-21, and there will be plenty of interest in the setup to the August 14 match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, considering that Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been mentioned as a possible successor for Sergio Aguero.

Chelsea snatched City's European glory with a 1-0 victory in the

Champions League

final last month, and Thomas Tuchel's side will begin their domestic campaign against Crystal Palace, who, like Spurs, are without a coach.

Manchester United finished second last season, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's third full season at the helm will begin at Old Trafford against Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United.

Brentford, who have just been promoted, faces Arsenal at home, with the Gunners having no European obligations for the first time since 1995-96.

Liverpool also faces the Championship winners Norwich City as the newcomers into the Premier League, while Watford welcomes Aston Villa for the first time in the league.

Last season, Man City won for the first time at Anfield since 2003. Jurgen Klopp will relish his next clash with Pep Guardiola on Merseyside on October 2, a week after the champions seek vengeance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

All of those games are part of City's first seven games, including the Gunners' visit to the Etihad Stadium on August 28, the same day Chelsea travels to Liverpool, and a week after Mikel Arteta's side hosts the UCL champions.

The first Manchester United against Liverpool match of the season will occur at Old Trafford on October 23, only two weeks before United hosts the Cityzens in the Manchester derby.

The two rivals will meet again on March 19 at Anfield and March 5 at the Etihad Stadium.

Also, Chelsea's excursion to Old Trafford on the last weekend may be crucial in the championship race.

The Blues face Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on New Year's Day, City away a week later, and a home derby against Spurs a week after that.
