Kristoffer Ajer’s intention of leaving Celtic explained by teammate

Stephen Welsh insists that Kristoffer Ajer can be a successful star if the club let him go.

The Norway international has decided to part ways with

Celtic

, and his teammate

Stephen Welsh

has confirmed that he can become a great player if he leaves the club.

Kristoffer Ajer’s

contract with the club expires in one year, but Welsh thinks it would be better for the club and the player if he leaves sooner. The 23-year-old has been linked with a £6million move to Newcastle.

Welsh, who is another young talent in the club, says that Ajer still has other options in choosing his destination.

“Kris has been fantastic for the last four or five years – he’s been so good, especially when I came into the team,”

said Welsh

.

“He has really helped me so much. Whatever happens, happens. But he’s a fantastic player and I’m sure he can play at the top level.

“Will he be hard to replace? You can say that about every player that goes from Celtic. We will find a way. He’s still a Celtic player, so I think we’ll be all right.

“Working together as a partnership, I thought we fitted in well together. He has done well. He’s a great character for the team day in, day out.

“He’s a bubbly guy. First and foremost, he’s a brilliant player and a good leader for the team.”

Everything now depends on the club’s decision, and since they haven’t chosen a successor for Lennon yet, we should wait and see what happens to the player with the arrival of the new manager.
