Arsenal considers Buendia as the primary Odegaard replacement

The Argentine forward joined Norwich from Getafe in 2018 and was essential in Canaris Championship promotion in his first year.

Although the club didn’t have a joyful experience in the Premier League, the 24-year-old player continued shining on as he provided 7 goals and 7 assists in 19 league outings.

As a long-time admirer of the Argentine, Mikel Arteta’s side are keen to add another creative player to their squad ahead of the 2021-22 season as Martin Odegaard’s future with the Gunners remains in doubt.

In an interview with

Sky Germany

earlier this week, the Norwegian admitted he is ‘happy’ at Arsenal, but Real Madrid are to decide on his future.

"I am happy here at Arsenal, we will see after the season what will happen," the 22-year-old, who joined Arsenal on loan from the Los Blancos this January, said.

"I’m owned by Real Madrid, so we have to speak to them. It’s important to understand what they want."

According to

Goal

, although Arsenal are yet to make an official offer for Buendia, their technical director, Edu, has started to step up the club’s interest in Buendia as discussions inside the club ramp up ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Argentine has scored 15 goals and contributed 17 assists in his 39 Championship appearances, more than any other player in the division as Norwich are believed to want around £40 million for their attacking midfielder.
