Barcelona execute option to renew Oscar Mingueza’s deal until 2023

Barcelona are set to trigger the option to automatically extend Oscar Mingueza's contract with La Blaugrana according to Diario Sport.

The Catalan club had until May 31st to decide but

Barca

have extended the 21-year-old's deal until 2023.

Talks with the defender's agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, will proceed in the next few days to agree on the conditions.

Joan Laporta's newly-elected sporting director, Mateu Alemany has taken the step after the academy product's level of play has improved and dismissed any doubts about the defender.

As this clause holds their relationship until 2023, Alemany and Orobitg will arrange new talks to have a fresh long-term deal.

Mingueza, who can play at center-back or right-back, entered the first team in a Champions League match at Dynamo Kyiv this season and has grown to be a committed player for Ronald Koeman in the Dutchman's first season on the Camp Nou bench.

Mingueza

is in La Rojita's lineup and could have the chance to play for Spain at the future Olympic Games.
