Edinson Cavani looks to be heading back to South America to join Boca Juniors.

Edinson Cavani

is closing in on a move to

Boca Juniors

, according to

ESPN

.

The Uruguayan striker, 34, is heading towards the end of his career and after 14 years playing in Europe, he is now considering being closer to home.

He joined

Manchester United

in October on a one-year deal with an option to extend and has been able to score seven goals through 27 appearances, although, he has rarely been a consistent starter.

He joined Palermo in 2007 and it was before enjoying prolific spells with Napoli and

Paris Saint-Germain

where he was able to establish a reputation as one of world football’s finest goalscorers.

During his time at PSG, he has been able to score 200 goals through 301 appearances and win six Ligue Un titles.

He then joined the Red Devils on a lucrative deal and made his debut in the game against Chelsea.

His first goal was in their 3-1 win over Everton at the start of November and it was before delivering a match-winning brace away to Southampton later that month, however, suspension and injuries disrupted his progress at Manchester United.
