Two Berliner Derby’s incident to be investigated by the DFB
Although many left disappointed with the overall quality of football in Easter Sunday's Berliner Derby, there existed plenty of colorful intensity both on and off the pitch.
The German FA's control committee has joined the local police to investigate the fireworks set off on the roof of the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, which was planted by an ultra group and ended up setting fire to a small snack within the stadium.
Anton Nachreiner, the control committee’s chairman, confirmed on Tuesday that the DFB was investigating the incident.
Hertha’s midfielder, Santiago Ascacibar, provoked FC Union ultras, who have a history of violating the Bundesliga pyrotechnic ordinances, after he received a yellow card for what referee Sascha Stegemann adjudged to be foul on Union defender Nico Schlotterbeck in the 79th minute. Ascacibar assaulted Schlotterbeck verbally when the 21-year-old was laying on the ground.
Kickerconfirms that the control committee asked both players involved for statements on Tuesday as the DFB is investigating the incident.
