Dejan Stankovic: ‘Red Star never gave in’

Dejan Stankovic was happy with his side’s performance after 10-men Red Star Belgrade snatched a 2-2 draw against Milan in the Europa League.

“Milan are deadly and very quick on the counter,”

Stankovic

told Sky Sport Italia after the first leg of the Europa League Round of 32 tie

.

“We never gave in and I am happy for the lads. This was like a derby for me, then we’ll see what happens with the real one on Sunday.”

The game took place behind closed doors but there 1,000 fans outside the stadium supporting their side with loudspeakers.

“I have had the privilege of playing at a packed Marakana, and I can confirm the atmosphere really does make a difference. It’s a pity, but we can only hope football can return to normality as soon as possible.”
