Liverpool compete with Tottenham for Ezri Konsa
Two rivals in the Premier League are monitoring Aston Villa's central defender.
He is having a great season at Villa Park while trying to qualify for Europe on
Dean Smith
's side.
Villa is currently eighth in the table and have played at least one game in hand on many of the teams around them.
Smith's man have been quite strong defensively, conceding just 22 goals in 22 games.
Manchester City
is the only club in the
Premier League
whose backline has been beached less often.
Villa have also kept 12 clean sheets, the second after
Pep Guardiola
's team.
Konsa has made a considerable contribution to his team's success, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Liverpool
and
Tottenham
are reportedly monitoring the former
Brentford
stopper.
Villa paid just £12 million to bring the defender to the West Midlands in 2019, but his value has increased since then.
Konsa has a contract with Villa until 2023 and the club hopes to extend his contract.
However, given that both Liverpool and Tottenham both maintain the situation, Knesa could receive other offers.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old could soon face a decision at the international level, with the London-born center-back eligible to represent no fewer than four different nations.
Konsa has played for England under-20 and under-21 teams but is also qualified for DR Congo, Angola and Portugal.
Konsa has not yet played at the adult level for his country of birth, and to get a place in the England squad for the European Championships in the summer, he is a foreigner.
Aston Villa returns to Premier League action against
Leicester
on Sunday afternoon before a trip to
Leeds
in their final February fixture.
