Felipe Melo on leaving Inter: 'One of the best decisions of my life'
Felipe Melo has no second thoughts about withdrawing Inter to join Palmeiras in Brazil, in the wake of aiding the club lift the Copa Libertadores a week ago.
The 37-year-old midfielder moved to Inter from Turkish side
Galatasaray
in 2015 yet battled for standard playing time at the San Siro and eventually got back to his country with San Paulo's Palmeiras two years later, in January 2017.
Melo's experience with the Verdao has ended up being massively influential. He captained the club to their tenth
Brasileirao
title in 2018, preceding encouraging them to win the
Copa Libertadores
unexpectedly since 1999 with a triumph over Santos a weekend ago.
Addressing Palmeiras' official website, the former Brazil international talked about his choice to leave European football with Inter and get back to Brazil, asserting that it had been the correct choice for him.
"After a successful career in Europe and being with a team like Inter, it was worth leaving to start from scratch again with a great club like Palmeiras," the defensive midfielder stated.
"It was one of the best decisions of my life. We still have more work to do but at the end of it all I'll look back and say it was worth it."
