Rangers are not interested in signing Ben Davies
The Light Blues will not make a move for Preston defender according to an Ibrox source.
’ contract with
Prestonwill be expired in the summer and the player is now able to negotiate with other clubs for a potential free transfer in the summer. There had been reports claiming that
Rangersare interested in signing the 25-year-old and they are preparing to negotiate a pre-contract with him. However, it appears that
Steven Gerrard
’s team have ‘no interest’ in signing the defender according to what a Gers insider has told the
PA news agency
. The Deepdale boss
Alex Neil
has reportedly offered Davies a club-record contract worth £17,000 a week in an attempt to persuade him to stay at Preston.
Rangers have also been heavily linked with Airdrieonians youngster
Thomas Robert. The 20-year-old has been one of the key players in Ian Murray’s squad and has scored four goals in his 14 matches for the club. Despite the recent rumors, the Ibrox source has confirmed that Robert is not on Gerrard’s list of targets. Rangers are, however, close to signing Aberdeen winger
Scott Wrighton a pre-contract but there is little chance that the 23-year-old will be able to join Gerrard’s team before the summer transfer window.
