We lost our heads a bit in the way we wanted to attack – Dier

Eric Dier reflects on the Spurs’ ‘disappointing’ showcase in the 1-1 draw with Southampton on Tuesday.

Tottenham

were held to a 1-1 draw in the Premier League clash against

Southampton

on Tuesday. Antonio Conte’s men, who had two goals disallowed by VAR, could not gain all 3 points even though Southampton were without Mohammed Salisu after the Ghanaian center-back was sent off the pitch in the 3th minute of the game.

Reflecting on Tottenham’s performance, the Spurs’ defender

Eric Dier

said:

“It really has got away from us, disappointed we didn’t get the win, especially them going down to 10 men. We couldn’t break them down and that is disappointing. It wasn’t the best performance from us.

“You get the goal there at the start of the second half and the game could be different, we could go on and get more and more, but the longer the game went on, we lost our heads a bit in the way we wanted to attack and we weren’t as structured as we should have been and we couldn’t get the goal.

“It was difficult. Sometimes it can be like that when you play against 10 men. When we didn’t have the right intensity and movement off the ball, it can be like that. It is disappointing. We will watch the game back and make sure if we find ourselves in that position again we handle it better.”
