Raul: Real Madrid is my home and this is where I want to be

Castilla, Real Madrid's B team, lost to Ibiza in the Segunda promotion playoff on Sunday afternoon. Much of the drama, however, took place on the sidelines, where Raul was coaching.

Former Spain international is the favorite to replace

Zinedine Zidane

as the first-team manager.

While it hasn't been confirmed, it has been widely speculated that Zidane has informed his players that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Last season, the Frenchman won La Liga for the second time, and the club is still in contention to win it again this season but as underdogs.

However, Zidane is known to assume that a loop is coming to an end and that a transition is needed to propel Los Blancos forward. Given that Zidane has used many Castilla players this season, it's clear that there's a lot of potential coming out of La Fabrica right now. Following the line of thinking, Raul will be a good fit for the first team.

"Although it may not seem like it, it's a day to be happy for what the team has done," Raul said post-match after the loss to Ibiza in comments carried by

Marca

. "We'll learn to value it soon even though the boys are crying right now.

"This is my home and this is where I want to be. This is not the time to talk about anyone's future. We've learned a lot this year. I'm an employee of the club. Since I decided to become a coach three or four years ago it's best to do it at home, at my club, gaining experience and coaching in the best way. I'm a club man, I'm happy at home and I'm excited to continue."
