Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez has turned down the opportunity to join city rivals Atletico Madrid.

. They sent the Galician right-winger an offer. But he didn’t even consider the offer because he associates himself too closely with his current club to move to their direct rivals.
The 29-year-old’s current deal ends in June, and he had looked likely to be on his way out of the club at the end of this season. Now, though, the chances of him staying with Los Blancos are better than they have been for some time.
Vázquez is on the verge of signing a three-year extension deal with Los Blancos, after the club improved its offer from €3.5 million a year to €5 million.
The versatile winger has become indispensable for Zinedine Zidane this season, playing in a number of positions but most impressively at right-back in Dani Carvajal's absence.
