Lucas Vazquez to miss rest of the season due to a knee injury

The season is over for Real Madrid right-back, as he suffered a knee ligament injury in last night’s El Clasico.

Lucas Vazquez

left the pitch in the 38

th

minute of last night’s clash against

Barcelona

, after he was hurt in a challenge with

Sergio Busquets

. He returned to the pitch but was replaced by

Alvaro Odriozola

just a few minutes later.

Real Madrid

announced in a statement a few minutes ago that the Spaniard has suffered a strain in the posterior ligament of his left knee, and thus, he will have to sit out for the rest of the season.

The 29-year-old won’t be able to accompany Real in the remaining La Liga games and the return leg clash in the Champions League quarter-final against

Liverpool

.

This is the worst possible news for Zinedine Zidane, since Los Blancos’ other right-back,

Dani Carvajal

, is also out of action due to a hamstring injury.
