Pioli confident Rafael Leao will remain at Milan

Milan manager Stefano Pioli is confident that Rafael Leao will extend his contract with the Italian club.

Leao’s contract with

Milan

runs out in 2024 and big European clubs are monitoring his situation. Chelsea has been strongly linked with Leao since the summer and it is expected they will try to sign him the next summer.

Manchester United, PSG, and Real Madrid are all interested in the signing of

Leao

if he decides not to sign a new contract with Milan.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Pioli said that negotiations between Milan and Leao for extending his contract are ongoing and he believes that his path with Rossoneri will continue.

“Two things are sure, that he is well with us, because I see and talk to him, and that Rafa and the club are talking.

“We are waiting for good news. I believe that his path with us is not yet finished, I see that we are well together.”

Leao joined Milan from Lille for a fee of €35 million in 2019. He has scored 34 goals in 135 matches for Milan. The forward played a key role in Millan winning the

Serie A

last season with 11 goals and 10 assists in 34 league matches. He was also voted Serie A Most Valuable Player and was listed among the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d'Or.

The 23-year-old Leao has already scored six goals and provided five assists in 14 league matches this season.
