Milan to offer Leao a new contract before World Cup in Qatar

The Rossoneri are planning to have a meeting with the representatives of Rafael Leao in order to make an offer for his services and start negotiations.

Rafael Leao

’s deal with Milan is due to reach its end in 2024 and according to the Rossoneri director, Paolo Maldini, the club is eager to offer him a new deal before the start of the World Cup in Qatar. Chelsea are among the clubs that have shown an interest in the 23-year-old but the Serie A side made it clear that they do not plan to cash in on their star player.

As per reports from

La Gazzetta dello Sport

, the Rossoneri management will have a meeting with the Portuguese star’s representatives next week on Tuesday or Wednesday in order to make a proposal for a new contract for the player. Reports claim that the contract is five years long and it is worth €5m net per season plus settling the €9-10m debt they have with Sporting.

The Milan supporters have been worried about the player’s current contract and whether he will sign a new one before the World Cup. However, Maldini and Milan made it their goal to get him to tie down.

The Portugal international played a crucial role at Milan last season when they grabbed the Serie A title. He met the back of the net 11 times and contributed eight assists. Moreover, he continued his fine vein of form this season as well since he has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 11 matches across all competitions.
