Breaking: Ancelotti confirms Karim Benzema will miss the Madrid derby

The French striker picked up a hamstring injury in the Los Blancos' Champions League opener against Celtic two weeks ago, and although Ancelotti was hopeful to have his favored forward in the Madrid derby, it's been confirmed Benzema would miss their vital Sunday clash.

Real Madrid

started their Champions League campaign in fashion with a 3-0 away victory over

Celtic

at Glasgow. However, the injury of their French star hit the reigning

Champions League

and La Liga holders.

Karim Benzema

took a knock in the 26th minute of their Tuesday match at Glasgow as the club further confirmed the hamstring injury of their star.

Although

Carlo Ancelotti

earlier said Benzema could be fit for their Sunday derby against Atletico Madrid, he admitted in his Saturday press conference he won't have his forward in their Sunday derby. He said:

"I'm not saying [who will play up front], Benzema won't be there.

"He has started working individually and will be ready after the [international] break."

Earlier a senior agent in Spain,

Pedro Bravo

, commented on

Vinicius Junior'

s goal celebration, calling it "playing the monkey" on the television show El Chiringuito.

"

It's something that we don't touch on in the locker room, these are issues that are not normally discussed in the locker room, we usually talk about football,"

the Madrid boss said.

"Racism is one thing and what happens in football is another thing. We have not touched on this issue of racism because the player has responded very well."

"Nothing is wrong with Vini. He is playing with joy. Vini is joy, happiness."

Winning all of their eight opening games of their season across all competitions this season, the Los Blancos has a lot of advantages over their ill-formed

Atletico Madrid.

However,

Ancelotti

is not underestimating Madrid's local rivals

"It will be a competitive match. They don't expect anything new and it will be a very competitive duel, a good football match, because there are very good players on both teams,"

Ancelotti said.

"The match is open, but there is nothing definitive."
