Arsenal fails Ramsdale transfer as clubs fail to meet a valuation

Ramsdale was Sheffield United’s player of the season and has done enough to attract the interest of Arsenal. The Gunners are going through a major restructuring after a disappointing 2020/21 campaign.

After seeing their last two bids for the 23-year-old goalkeeper rejected

, Mikel Arteta's side reportedly made a third offer worth in the region of £25m to bring the Sheffield United goalkeeper to the Emirates.

However, now

according to the Athletic

, ‘

Arsenal’s pursuit of Aaron

Ramsdale is on the brink of breaking down after the two clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee.

The Blades’ Saudi Arabian owners’ starting position was to demand a fee of £35 million for

Ramsdale

as the English goalkeeper was Mikel Arteta’s priority for the goalkeeping position, especially with

the possible departure of Bernd Leno.

Arsenal didn’t want to pay any higher than half the amount Sheffield United demanded for the promising goalkeeper's signature.

Aaron Ramsdale

left Sheffield United for Bournemouth in 2017, and after a number of loan spells, he finally earned a breakthrough with the Cherries in 2019-20.

After their relegation, the goalkeeper returned to Bramall Lane in an £18.5 million ($25m) deal.

Ramsdale’s former teammate at Bournemouth,

Asmir Begovic

praised the English goalkeeper in an interview

 stating

: "He can become one of the best, especially in the country.

"He’s already proved that he can play at the highest level. He’s got a lot of potential still to fulfil.

"The more he plays, the more he’s going to progress. So I’m not surprised to see him linked with some of the top clubs.

"What he’s done over the last couple of years shows everyone the quality he has.

"With his age, where he’s at, the potential is there to become an even better goalkeeper."
