Arsenal agree £50m deal for Brighton's Ben White

The English center-back is set to join the Gunners in the coming days.

Ben White

has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for the past few months.

Arsenal

had reportedly made bids of £40m and £47m for White, but both offers were rejected by the Seagulls as they demanded £50m for their star defender.

According to

The Sun

, Arsenal have agreed to pay Brighton’s full asking price for White. The English defender is set to complete his medical at Arsenal when he returns from holiday on July 26.

Having left Southampton in 2014, White secured a move to Brighton and spent loan deals at Newport County, Peterborough United, and Leeds United. The 23-year-old finally broke into the Seagulls’ senior team last year, where he delivered impressive performances at the heart of his side’s defense. White was also included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2020 but didn’t make an appearance in the tournament.

After finishing eighth in the Premier League last season, the Gunners are keen to bolster their defense ahead of their next league campaign. Mikel Arteta is determined to improve Arsenal’s domestic performance as they are away from European football for the first time since 1995.
