‘Fernandes looks like a Man United captain’ – Neville

Former Manchester United star is amazed by the Portugal international’s talismanic performance which saw him a ‘leader’ for Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

The Red Devils midfielder

Bruno Fernandes

“looks like a Manchester United captain,” according to

Phil Neville

. The 26-year-old has been expected to deliver

Manchester United

the silverware.

The impressive midfielder is trying his best to bring back Red Devils’ former glories through contributing goals and assists since he joined the club in January 2020.

Fernandes has met the target 33 times in only 30 Premier League matches he appeared in. The only other player who has done better is Andy Cole with a tally of 37.

The 26-year-old is named above legends like Eric Cantona, who has managed 27 goals.

Neville believes the midfielder has grabbed the title of a ‘leader’ for Manchester United, as he is expected to be handed the armband at some point.

“I think the thing about that list [of most goal involvements] that stands out is the need to start winning trophies, to go along with those assists, that impact and those goals that he is scoring,

” said Neville.

Thinking back to when he joined 12 months ago, thinking that United were probably nowhere near Man City and Liverpool and even Chelsea, to now be joint-top of the Premier League, I think that’s a lot to do with him. That’s the impact he’s had.

“What I like about him is that he looks like a Man United captain. He talks like one, he is a leader on the pitch and he is keeping his feet firmly on the ground, which I think is really important.”

Manchester United are now sitting second on the

Premier League

table courtesy of their recent significant display.
