Marseille break their UCL losing curse in a win over Olympiacos

The Ligue 1 club finally ended their losing curse after 13 winless matches in a row.

On Tuesday,

Marseille

sealed their win against

Olympiacos

in the

Champions League

competition after suffering from 13 consecutive winless games in the European race.

Dimitri Payet

, who scored a brace for Marseille, gave an end to the record-breaking streak of his team with a 2-1 victory over the Greek club.

The goals scored by Payet not only were the team’s first goals in the competition but they also gave them hope to at least reach the

Europa League

race. Earlier this month the team’s coach,

Villas-Boas

, who jokingly aimed to look on the bright side of their run in the Champions league, said:

"In order to be sh*t in the Champions League, you have to at least qualify for the Champions League. We did it and we are being sh*t."
