Andoni Iraola has been appointed as new Bournemouth head coach

O’Neil is out and the Cherries have a new manager.

Andoni Iraola was selected by

Bournemouth

as their next head coach after Gary O'Neil was fired.

Iraola took over as the manager of Rayo Vallecano in 2020 and was able to achieve good results with the team. Last season, they finished in 11th place in La Liga.

Bill Foley, the Chairman of Bournemouth Football Club, spoke about the appointment of Iraola:

“We’re so excited to welcome Andoni to the club. With his contract in Spain coming to an end this summer, we wanted to act quickly."

“He was highly sought after by other clubs across the continent, and his style of play has been an important factor in making this decision.”

Iraola's contract with Bournemouth is for two years. Leeds United also made a great effort to recruit him but ultimately failed.
