"Now I’m a better man" - Cristiano Ronaldo on Manchester United exit

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is a better man after ending his second spell at Manchester United.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in 2021 and scored 24 goals in his first season, but he left the club by mutual consent last November after an explosive television interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticised the club and Eric Ten Hag.

The 38-year-old forward said he has become a better man after coming through a “bad phase” of his career.

“I have no problem saying I had a bad phase of my career, but there’s no time for regrets,”

he told a press conference ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Liechtenstein.

“Life goes on and, doing well or not, it was part of my growth. When we are at the top of the mountain, we often cannot see what is below.

“Now, I’m more prepared and learning that was important, because I had never been through this, like in the last few months. Now I’m a better man.”

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, after failing to find a club in the Champions League, joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr on a two-year deal. He has scored nine goals in 10 games for his new team.
