Romelu Lukaku suffers another injury ahead of the World Cup

Inter star, Romelu Lukaku, has suffered another hamstring injury just three weeks before the World Cup.

Inter

confirmed on Monday that

Romelu Lukaku

sustained an injury during Sunday’s training session.

Inter has not revealed how long Lukaku will be out of action but he will miss the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Lukaku also could miss the important matches against Juventus, Bologna, and Atalanta in the Serie A.

"Romelu Lukaku underwent clinical-instrumental tests this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano,"

a statement released by the Nerazzurri said.

"The investigations revealed a resentment of the myotendinous scar of the hamstring of the left thigh. The player's condition will be re-evaluated in a few days.”

Lukaku had returned from a similar injury against Viktoria Plzen last week. He then came off the bench against Sampdoria on Saturday.

Lukaku’s injury is a big concern for

Belgium’s

manager Roberto Martinez just three weeks before the World Cup. Belgium will play with Canada in their first game on November 23. They then will play with Morocco and Croatia.

Lukaku returned to Inter on a loan deal last summer after just one season at Chelsea. He joined Chelsea in 2021 for €110 million but his relationship with Thomas Tuchel and the club broke after a controversial interview in December 2021.

The 29-year-old striker has struggled with injuries this season and has just made 5 appearances for Inter and scored only two goals.

Inter already has qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League and is in fifth place in the Serie A table with 24 points after 12 matches.
