Ancelotti won’t drop Karim Benzema against Getafe despite poor form

Although Ancelotti admits his favorite striker is "a bit tired" after failing to impress following his return from injury last week, he refused to rule him out of Madrid's La Liga clash with Getafe on Saturday.

The

Real Madrid

striker failed to impress in his injury return last week against Shakhtar Donetsk and Osasuna as he was responsible for missing a penalty in their 1-1 draw with the Catalan side.

However, the Italian coach restated

Karim Benzema

has his complete support as he refused to rule the French striker out of the

Getafe

game despite admitting Benzema is “a bit tired”. Ancelotti told his press conference: "

Benzema has played two full games after being out for a month, he's a bit tired.

"He's not ruled out. If he's fine tomorrow, he can play. I see the usual Karim, we don't have to worry. It may be that he rests in Getafe, we'll see, we don't want to force anything."

Carlo Ancelotti

revealed that in his 30-year-long coaching career, only Pepe and

Clarence Seedorf

have asked him for a rest. He added:

"The players are not so honest when they are tired.

"I prefer that they tell me that they are loaded and avoid injuries, but it has only happened to me twice in 30 years: Pepe and [Clarence] Seedorf."

Ancelotti provided a positive fitness update on

Thibaut Courtois

before talking about

Toni Kroos

' contract renewal situation with the club.

"Courtois is improving from his inflammation, it's getting better,

" he said. "

We'll see if he gets to Warsaw [to face Shakhtar on Tuesday], but he'll be safe in the Clasico."

"Kroos never gets angry, he never feels the pressure. Sometimes I ask him if he's nervous, and he always says no.

"The renewal is in his hands, if he wants to renew, Real Madrid will be very happy."

Being dropped against Getafe can be fatal for

Benzema's Ballon d'Or

hopes as he needs to extend his pre-injury good form. Since the beginning of the previous season, the France international has met the target 48 times and contributed 16 assists across all competitions for the La Liga champions. The Frenchman also became the second-highest goalscorer for Madrid, with Cristiano Ronaldo being the first.
