Leonardo Bunucci warns Italy fans off booing players at San Siro

After Donnarumma's transfer to PSG in 2021, the goalkeeper got booed on his return to San Siro. Juventus defender hits out at supporters who boo their own players ahead of their Friday return to San Siro.

Former Milan goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma

decided to join PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 which caused the anger of the Nerazzurri fans. As a result, the Italian got booed by his side’s fans upon his return to San Siro to appear for the

Azzurri

.

Italy will face

England

this Friday at San Siro as

Leonardo Bonucci

recalls the incident. He told his press conference: "Whoever whistles a player of the Italian national team is for me a person without a brain, at that moment the player

represents the whole nation.

"Donnarumma was not the first to be booed and he will not be the last. We have to grow up from a cultural point of view."

Despite winning the European Championship in 2020, Italy missed qualifying for the

2022 Qatar World Cup

, making the Nations League even more important for Roberto Mancini’s side. After facing England on Friday, Italy will visit

Hungary

in the last matchday of their Nations League group.
