Milan's American Duo: Pulisic's Impact and Musah's Milestone
Manager Pioli's Assessment, Season Review, and Prospects Ahead of Crucial Matches
Christian Pulisic departed Chelsea for Milan in a £17 million ($22m) deal last July, followed a month later by fellow American Yunus Musah's transfer from Valencia to the Italian giants for £15.5 million ($19.8m). Pulisic, 25, has been a regular feature on the wing, contributing 15 goals and nine assists while rarely missing a game. In contrast, 21-year-old midfielder Musah has mainly been used as a substitute, starting just 12 Serie A matches.
Manager Stefano Pioli, who is expected to leave his role after the season, offered his evaluation of
Milan's recent acquisitions. "The new players have significant qualities and can achieve even more. I'm sure they will," Pioli remarked. "We've experienced highs and lows, but their commitment has never been in question. That's why, in these last two matches, I want to reward everyone. I'm grateful to this group."
Milan have endured a disappointing season by their own high standards, failing to secure any silverware. This shortfall may cost Pioli his job. However, if Pulisic can elevate his game further and Musah can secure a regular starting spot, it could bolster Milan's chances of returning to trophy-winning ways.
Next, Milan will face Torino in their upcoming Serie A fixture on Saturday night, followed by a season-ending match at home against already-relegated Salernitana on May 26.
