Italy

defender

Giorgio Chiellini

said after his last match for the team that it will a difficult period for Roberto Mancini to get Azzurri back on track.

Chiellini, who won the Euro 2020 trophy last summer, has had some difficult days with Italy over the past year. They failed to advance to the World Cup after losing to Northern Macedonia and suffered a 3-0 defeat to

Argentina

last night in the Finalissima. Chiellini , who also left Juventus and is expected to travel to Los Angeles FC, claimed that Mancini has a difficult task ahead of him to get Italy back on track.

"We were hoping to win the match and the trophy. We knew it would be tough, but the defeat does not cancel what has gone before.

"Now I expect a difficult period. We need everyone to support this group."

Asked about Argentina's performance, Chiellini said:

"Above all, at this moment they are too strong, they have confidence and they are a team. They look like us a year ago."

"It's a shame because in the first half we made a lot of mistakes and we ruined the match by ourselves."
