Xavi hailed Barca's unsung heroes in team victory

Barcelona's victory over Elche on Saturday was not just about Robert Lewandowski's two goals, as Xavi pointed out the team's collective effort

Xavi emphasized that Barcelona's triumph was due to the collective effort of the team, rather than individual displays, following their comfortable 4-0 victory against Elche in LaLiga. Robert Lewandowski scored twice, while Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres added a goal each, allowing the Blaugrana to comfortably defeat their bottom-of-the-table opponents at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

Barcelona

's dominant performance against relegation-threatened Elche left little doubt about their superiority, however, Xavi was keen to highlight the contributions of the less-heralded players in addition to the star performers. He emphasized the importance of balance between the two in their pursuit of the title.

"It has been a rounded night,"

he said.

"[It was] a very good game, from start to finish. We have a team with players who do not necessarily participate too much.

"[But] they performed at a high level. This is [the definition of] a team. We have taken one more step [towards the championship], we are closer. We have shown that we are a unit."

Xavi praised the flexibility of some of his players, such as Eric Garcia, who played in midfield, and Marcos Alonso, who played as a centre-back. He also expressed his pleasure at seeing Ansu Fati put off-field issues behind him, after his father publicly expressed his frustration about his son's lack of playing time for Barcelona.

"Ansu made a difference,"

he added.

"It has left him exhausted, but he has done a great job for the team. His goal comes because of his work ethic and talent.

"He has that, and it will come out. If he continues to work like this, he will end up playing more often."
