According to The Athletic, Harry Kane's move from

to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 aimed to break his silverware drought, but despite scoring 44 goals across competitions in his debut season, he ended empty-handed.

Former Spurs star Anderton, speaking with Goal in association with William Hill, empathized with Kane's plight: "You have got to feel sorry for him. What a great guy, what a player, what a loyal player to Spurs for all those years."

Reflecting on Kane's time at Bayern Munich, Anderton noted the disappointment of missing out on trophies, particularly after a standout season: "He’s done great at Munich, people in Germany love him, he has been outstanding. But of course Xabi Alonso’s team [Bayer Leverkusen] have come along and done something unthinkable."

Currently on duty with England at Euro 2024, Kane faces scrutiny amidst suggestions of being dropped by manager Gareth Southgate: "Your captain, your goalscorer, I think it’s very difficult to drop him," Anderton remarked, highlighting Kane's pivotal role despite challenges.

Anderton also discussed Kane's role within the England squad, emphasizing the need for tactical adjustments to support his play: "We are pretty dull to watch. There has been zero creativity."
