Haaland's fitness is in doubt for the Liverpool game

Guardiola has not made a decision about whether or not he will include Erling Haaland in the team to face Liverpool, but he is sure that his side can still score even if the Norwegian striker is absent.

Pep Guardiola has stated that Erling Haaland is currently recuperating from a groin injury and a decision on whether he will play against Liverpool will be made later in the day.

Despite the uncertainty, Guardiola is confident that

Manchester City

will be able to continue scoring goals even without Haaland, who has been exceptional in his first season with the club, scoring a remarkable 42 goals in all competitions, the highest tally of any player in Europe's top five leagues.

Erling Haaland

's injury prevented him from joining Norway during the international break, slowing down his impressive performance. Manchester City is set to face Liverpool on Saturday, but it is uncertain whether Haaland will be fit to play. Guardiola has not made a decision yet and is taking his time before determining Haaland's availability.

"Erling is recovering,"

the manager said.

"We have the last training session and we will see how he feels."

When asked if he would play Haaland even if he wasn't certain the player was fully recovered, Guardiola said he trusted Haaland's own judgment. However, the manager also expressed confidence that City could still perform well without their star striker. Additionally, Guardiola revealed that Phil Foden had undergone appendix surgery and would be out for a few weeks.

Haaland has been prolific in the Premier League this season, having scored 28 goals which account for 42% of Manchester City's total goals, and his goals have earned the team 20 points. These are all impressive records for a single season by a City player.

"The doctors and especially the players will decide,"

Guardiola said.

"How does he feel? Yesterday I spoke with him and he feels good. But we will see, we will see what happens.

"We have scored a lot of goals this season, and he's scored an incredible amount of goals, but in the past we also scored a lot of goals.

"Since we were here, and with Roberto Mancini and [Manuel] Pellegrini, always Man City was a team that scored a lot of goals in the season – with different players, different strikers.

"They scored a lot of goals, which is what we will try to do until the end of the season."
