Liverpool 2–5 Real Madrid: Making It Home At Anfield!

The two teams that played two of the last five Champions League finals faced each other at Anfield on Tuesday in a sensational Champions League round of 16 game.

Eager to take revenge on the last year’s Champions League final, Liverpool started the game on the front foot as they reached the opener early in the 4h minute through an audacious backheel flick from Darwin Nunez. Mohamed Salah, who provided the assist for Liverpool's first goal, take the most from a blunder by Courtois to double Liverpool's lead in the 14th minute.

However, the Reds failed to hold to their lead as a spectacular strike from Vinicius in the 21st minute pulled one back for Real Madrid. An error from Alisson who put Vinicius in a blocking position made the score equal with the Brazilian scoring a brace in the first half. The eventful half ended as a 2-2 draw with both sides having chances to even score more.

Eder Militao completed the Los Blancos’ comeback early in the second half with a header from a free-kick cross by Luka Modric. A brace from Benzema made the matters worse for Liverpool as they failed to create any chances in the second half while Real Madrid celebrated a 5-2 away victory.
