Graham Potter confirms Brighton stance on Marc Cucurella

Marc Cucurella seems to be a top priority for Manchester City in this transfer window, but Graham Potter isn't worried about the future of the defender.

Brighton

are "confident and relaxed" about

Marc Cucurella

's future, but they are still waiting to see if

Manchester City

will meet their price for the player.

The Premier League champions, who lost to Liverpool 3-1 in the Community Shield on Saturday, have been trying to sign the defender as one of their main off-season transfer goals. They have already brought Erling Haaland,

Julian Alvarez

, and Kalvin Phillips.

But talks have stopped because Brighton is said to be unwilling to meet the £50 million price tag they put on a player they signed last year. This puts the ball squarely in City's court.

"There isn't much to say about it because it's just part of modern football,"

Graham Potter

told reporters after his team beat Espanyol in a friendly. Cucurella didn't play because he was having trouble with his calf. We are sure of our position and at ease with it. We can't wait for the season to start and for the team to be ready."

Cucurella may have avoided the wrath of fans on Saturday because he didn't play. He was said to have handed in a transfer request, but Potter thinks fans will respect the player's final decision.

Potter said, "I don't think people would do that." "I think people like Marc [Cucurella]; they know what goes on when the transfer window is open and understand the rumors."
