Real Madrid close to extend Karim Benzema's contract
The French star has had a stunning performance over the past season.
While Los Blancos have signed a new contract with Benzema in 2021, they seem ready to add another year to his contract. Benzema currently has a contract until 2023, and if extended for one year, he will be 37 years old at the end of his contract.
However, the French striker is getting better day by day. He is currently in his best form, scoring 44 goals in 46 games and sending 15 assists to his teammates. Undoubtedly, he was the most effective Los Blancos player in winning La Liga and the Champions League.
But it seems that Real Madrid is extending Benzema's contract with a specific plan. In 2024, the € 150 million termination clause of Erling Haaland's contract with
Man Citywill be activated, and it seems that Real Madrid intends to sign the Norwegian striker with the end of Benzema's contract. Kylian Mbappe has recently extended his contract until 2025, and Florentino Perez has not ruled out a future transfer.
It remains to be seen what process Real Madrid will take and what it will do in practice.
