A-League’s Cummings awaits a Socceroos call-up

The striker has netted three goals during his last two games in A-League Men and he is hoping to receive a Socceroos call-up.

Jason Cummings

has been great in front of goal in the A-League Men and he admitted that he hopes his form brings him a Socceroos call-up for the qualifying play-offs of the World Cup.

He was overlooked by

Australia

in the recent qualifiers, when they were defeated at the hands of Japan and Saudi Arabia, finishing third in AFC group B, which led them into the play-off route.

Cummings found the back of the net twice in

Central Coast

’s 2-2 draw with

Western United

and his penalty saved them a victory after netting against Adelaide in their last match.

Australia will lock horns with the United Arab Emirates on June 7 and should they get ahead, they will take on Peru in order to seal a spot in Qatar the week after that.

"

I'd love to be there. Of course, I'd love to be there, that'd be a dream,"

Cummings told Paramount Plus.

"But it's up to whoever picks the squad

"I'm available and I'd love it, but my main concentration is just every week playing with the Mariners and doing my best for this team."

He found the back of the net five times and provide five assists in 12 matches he played since he joined in January.

Nick Montgomery, the coach, talked about the 26-year-old on Saturday.

"

He's a goal scorer, he assists, his work rate is phenomenal. He's a top lad and he's put himself out there, he wants to play for the Socceroos,"

Montgomery said.

"He's 26 years old, for me right now, you could get six-seven years good service from a player like him.

"He's a massive player for us, him and Marcos have got a fantastic relationship going.

"... He's put himself out there, he wants to play for the Socceroos.

"That's a big reason why he came out here and on current form, again, I'm not the head coach but you've definitely got to be looking at players like him that can give the country that spark."
