Real have been clear that they would like me back – Odegaard

The Norwegian star will return to Real hoping that everything will go well this time.

Martin Odegaard

joined

Arsenal

on a loan deal from

Real Madrid

in January 2021.

At the end of the season, Arsenal confirmed that the Norwegian star has reached the end of his contract with the club and will return to Madrid. Odegaard’s good performance had prompted the Gunners to show interest in keeping the 22-year-old, however, Real insisted on getting their midfielder back.

Now with Zinedine Zidane out of the club and Carlo Ancelotti in charge, Odegaard has high hopes to shine at Santiago Bernabéu.

"The status is that I am a Madrid player and that I will return and start up there in a week and a half,"

Odegaard told TV 2.

"Real Madrid have been clear that they would like me back. So, then it will be time to go there when the training starts up again."

He added:

"Of course, it has always been a dream to play there. I have been in the club for over six years now, and that has always been the goal.”

Asked whether he has spoken with Los Blancos’ new boss, the Norway international said:

"No, not with him personally, but I have talked a lot with the club and had a close dialogue.

"So, I feel they have a good overview. I always want to play, I have said that all the time."
