Umar Sadiq nets a hat-trick in Almeria’s victory over Ponferradina

The Nigerian striker boosts Almeria’s promotion chances with a spectacular performance.

Having lost their last 2020 match against Espanyol,

Almeria

went into their

Ponferradina

clash with the urge to win the game in order to boost their chances for a potential LaLiga promotion.

After only two minutes,

Umar

scored the first goal for Rojiblancos from an Ager Aketxe assist. Former AS Roma striker doubled Almeria’s lead after twenty minutes and was able to complete his hat-trick in the 29th minute. Ponferradina’s second-half performance was improved but their 82nd goal by Curro Sanchez was not enough for them to escape the defeat. Umar Sadiq has managed to score nine goals in 14 matches for Almeria this season and was replaced by Juan Villar in the second half.

With this victory Almeria is now in third place of the Segunda division table with 41 points from their 20 games. Umar who joined Almeria from the Serbian Club

Partizan

in October 2020, will look forward to continuing his impressive form in the team’s Copa Del Ray match against Numancia on Wednesday.
