Andrey Santos’ transfer is up in the air as Chelsea and Palmeiras are yet to agree loan deal

Chelsea and Palmeiras are disagreeing on Santos’ Under-20 World Cup involvement.

Chelsea

and Palmeiras have agreed on a deal on principle to let Santos remain in Santos on loan. However, the two clubs disagree on a clause involving Santos’ appearance in U20 World Cup.

Chelsea wants Santos to be involved for Brazil in the U20 World Cup, since it can make getting a permit for the 18-year-old a lot easier. The tournament will be held in May and June of 2023.

Palmeiras

, however, don’t want to be tied to such an obligation since the World Cup is held in a crucial part of Palmeiras’ season in the summer, where they compete for Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores.

It is being reported that Palmeiras wants to have the final say on the matter but Chelsea are unwilling to budge. If the two clubs agree on a deal, Andrey Santos will remain in Brazil at least until December.
