Chelsea hunt for a left-back as they close to sign Benoit Badiashile

Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile is the next defender on Chelsea's radar as they look to strengthen their defence.

The Athletic reports that Chelsea are trying to sign the 21-year-old French defender,

Benoit Badiashile

for a deal worth €35 million.

With Chillwell out with an injury, Chelsea will push to sign Badiashile despite their recent high-profile signing of Marc Cucurella.

Graham Potter assignment hasn’t gone exactly the way he planned but the club seems to be backing the manager as they plot to sign the likes of Josko Gvardiol, Evan N’Dika and Piero Hincapie to strengthen their defensive shape.

Gvardiol in particular could be Chelsea’s next big signing, alongside Badiashile, as the Croatian had a great World Cup, proving to be one of the best defenders in the tournament. Chelsea were after him in the summer, reaching a personal agreement with the player but were unable to convince RB Leipzig sell Gvardiol.

The

Blues

have to wait until January to add any new players as they prepare to take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on December 27.
