Wales 0-2 Iran: Queiroz's side break Wales hearts with two last-gasp goals

Two Stoppage-time goals gave Iran a deserved 2-0 World Cup win over 10-man Wales in Group B on Friday.

and keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage of the

World Cup

alive.

Substitutions Roozbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian scored in the 98th and 101st minute for Carlos Queiroz's side.

Iran has three points after two games ahead of the clash against the United States while Wales remains on one point. Iran faces the USA in their final match in Group B, with Wales going against England.

Wales had a good chance in the 12th minute but Hosseini managed to push Moore's strike away. Gholizadeh scored for Iran in the 17th minute following a mistake from Walles player but it was ruled out for offside.

Iran came close to scoring at the start of the second half but the ball struck the woodwork twice in a matter of seconds.

Azmoun was put through on goal but his effort hit the post. Gholizadeh’s shot also struck the other post before Hennessey stopped Azmoun's rebound.

Wales was reduced to 10-man after Hennessey was shown a red card for a high challenge on Mehdi Taremi in the 85th minute.

Iran scored in the 98th minute when Cheshmi struck a stunning strike from the edge of the box.

Rezaeian scored the second goal from a counterattack. Taremi moved forward with the ball and sent it to Rezaeian. He chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and into the goal.
