Douglas Luiz extends his contract with Villa despite Arsenal link

The Brazilian star decided to stay at Aston Villa for another 4 years and reacted negatively to offers from other clubs.

Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz extended his contract with this club.

While in the recent transfer window, Arsenal made a lot of efforts to sign the Brazilian star and it is said that they made an offer of £23m for him, Villa did not agree to an amount less than 40 million pounds.

Luiz's previous contract was valid until the end of the season, and it was said that Milan is also planning to sign him. However, the former Manchester City star has extended his contract with Steven Gerrard's side to make it difficult for teams interested in signing him for the next windows.

He told club's website:

"I am so happy. I love this club [Aston Villa].

"I love the people here, the staff, the players and now I'm so comfortable and so happy. This club opened the door for me to come here, to the Premier League, I'm just so happy."

With the new deal, Luiz will stay at Aston Villa until 2026.
