LA Galaxy to double up Barcelona deal by signing Sergi Roberto

After signing Riqui Puig on a free transfer from Barcelona, LA Galaxy is eager to double up the bargain by purchasing La Masia product, Sergio Roberto, as well. However, Since the MLS transfer window is closed now, the MLS side eyes a January switch.

According to Catalan paper

Sport

,

LA Galaxy

is in negotiations with the Blaugrana over a deal for their fullback, Sergi Roberto. However, Since the MLS transfer window is closed now, any move would be finalized in January, giving Barcelona time to find a replacement for the La Masia product.

Sergi Roberto

, a midfielder by profession but a frequent right-back, was in the penultimate month of his deal and had been on a rollercoaster of a trip for a renewal for the past year before extending his contract with Barcelona until 2023. Roberto played the role of a utility player for years for Barca and given the financial situation of the club, Barcelona is likely to try to cash in the Spaniard.

Roberto joined the

Barcelona

academy in 2006 and has since played 316 times for the club, the great majority of which came following his switch to right-back in 2016. However, injuries affected his form, and was reduced to a utility player as he only made 15 La Liga appearances in the last two seasons.

He would join his former La Masia and Barcelona teammate

Riqui Puig

at MLS this January trying to revive his career.
