Berhalter on his expectations from Juve’s McKennie before Morocco game

Gregg Berhalter, the US men’s national team, talked about his expectations from the midfielder who is coming back to the field following a long injury setback. He also gave a glimpse into the staring XI decision for the first of the four games in the coming weeks.

. The midfielder is now returning for a game off the bench in his side’s last Serie A game of the season against Fiorentina.

He has now come back to full training with the national team, but Gregg Berhalter insisted that he does not want to take any risks and will bring him in for a short time in their friendly against Morocco.

McKennie is among the seven midfielders in camp, with the eight being Djordje Mihailovic also forced to withdraw because of an injury.

Berhalter is hoping, however, to get an extensive role from McKennie but insists he has to ease him for his rehabilitation.

"The goal of our camp is to get him in position where he can start a game and play extended minutes,"

Berhalter said.

"Right now, what we're dealing with is maybe he can play 20 minutes tomorrow.

"We've been looking at his training load and really been building him up. We've just he's had an intense last four days, and tomorrow will be the fifth day of his load so we want to be mindful of his minutes, making sure that he's recovered and moving in the right direction, but he's looked good on the field.

"Right now, it's just more being smart with it."

When the player loos set for a cameo, the boss also talked about some of his starting XI.

Matt Turner is expected to star in the battle against Morocco in goal as he competes with Zack Steffen for No. 1 goalkeeping position.

Aaron Long and Walker Zimmerman will be in central defense, whereas Brenden Aaronson will have a more central role.
