Havertz’s late goal secures the victory over Palmeiras

Chelsea defeats Palmeiras with Kai Havertz’s penalty in extra time.

Chelsea

became the Club World Cup winner by defeating

Palmeiras

in the final with

Kai Havertz’s

goal in the extra time from the penalty spot in a game that seemed very tough for both sides, and they thought that the winner would not be revealed until the penalty shootouts, but the Premier League side stole the lead deep into extra time.

Thomas Tuchel’s

men took the lead in the 55th minute of the game when

Romelu Lukaku

found the net with a nice header which changed the form of the game after a goalless first half.

Raphael Veiga

leveled the game for Palmeiras less than ten minutes later by scoring from a penalty spot in the 64th minute of the game, giving his side a big chance to fight against the Premier League giants and the Champions League’s reigning champions in a game that both sides seemed ready to take the trophy in their minds.

Everything cooled down after Palmeiras’ goal, and the game went to extra time, even then, none of the title contenders showed anything until the 117th minute when Kai Havertz scored the second goal for the Blues and secured the victory for them.
