Middlesbrough fan detained for leaving an 11 year-old in hotel room

After the Championship team's triumph on Friday, the fan is accused of leaving a youngster alone in a hotel room to join the celebration.

After celebrating Middlesbrough's

FA Cup

triumph against Manchester United, a Middlesbrough supporter was arrested for child negligence after abandoning an 11-year-old alone in a hotel room.

Middlesbrough qualified for the tournament's fifth-round after defeating a

Premier League

side on penalty kicks at Old Trafford on Friday night.

The visitors' fans were ecstatic after their unexpected victory over Ralf Rangnick's squad, but Greater Manchester Police Stretford announced an arrest.

"'Boro away fan arrested for child neglect last night, after choosing to leave his 11yr child in the hotel after the game whilst he went into town celebrating their victory drinking," GMP Stretford announced on Twitter.

"We have looked after the child with an unhappy mum on her way down from N/East to collect him."

With a strike from Jadon Sancho after 25 minutes, the home team grabbed the advantage in the FA Cup fourth-round tie.

In the second half, Middlesbrough equalized as Matt Crooks shot beat Dean Henderson.

However, the goal was marred by controversy, as the Red Devils players swarmed the official and claimed there was a handball in the setup.

However, a VAR review determined that Duncan Watmore's handball was unintentional, and the goal was upheld.

The game proceeded to extra time and then penalty kicks, with the guests winning 8-7 when

Anthony Elanga

failed Man Utd's penalty kick.
