Ex-England international Dyer in need of a liver transplant
The ex-England midfielder is in need of a liver transplant, according to Ipswich Town.
Kieron Dyer
has to go under the knife for a liver transplant after he was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis.
According to the Ipswich Town Under-23s manager, the former England international has been dealing with liver problems in recent years.
The former West Ham winger took some tests at the hospital as his lung collapsed when he was competing in the reality TV show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins last month.
The 42-year-old, who featured for
Ipswich, QPR and Middlesbrough as well, appreciated the support he has been given.
His statement was released on the League One side’s official website, which read:
"Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a condition of the liver a couple of years ago that would lead to me one day needing a transplant.
"Over the next week, test results will confirm when I need to go through this procedure.
"I see myself as a very positive person that will overcome this minor setback.
"I'm very grateful to the club, the supporters and the general public for their messages of support over the past week.
"I would like to ask everyone now to respect my privacy, and my family's privacy."
Dyer has 33 England caps from 1999 to 2007, and he represented his national team in the World Cup of 2002 as well as Euro 2004.
