Luiz Felipe apologizes for controversial celebration against Inter

The Lazio defender jump on the shoulders of Inter’s Correa after the final whistle.

Lazio defeated Inter with a 3-1 result on Saturday. Ivan Perisic opened the scoring for the reigning champions in the 12th minute, but three goals from Ciro Immobile, Felipe Anderson, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic were enough for the Biancocelesti to come back from behind in the second half.

After the final whistle,

Luiz Felipe

jumped on the shoulders of Joaquin Correa amid his side’s celebration. The Inter defender, who joined the Nerazzurri from Lazio this summer, reacted angrily and Felipe was shown a red card for his disrespectful act.

Felipe published an Instagram post on Sunday, explaining the incident.

“I would like to comment on the negative effects of what happened today at the end of the game,”

Felipe wrote.

“First of all, I want to make it clear that I have great respect for Inter and any other club. We are all professionals, working to pursue our goals and we would never disrespect another professional.

“At the end of the game, I ended up jumping on Tucu’s shoulders because he’s one of the great friends that football gave me. Our families are friends and we’ve always been very close,

“There, what I wanted most was to hug him and joke about the result, as much as our friendship allows, but I got too excited. Maybe, on second thought, it wasn’t the best time or the right place.

“I apologise to anyone who has felt insulted and make it clear that I have not tried, in any way, to be disrespectful towards him or towards Inter players.

“It was an innocent act, by a person who has great affection for Tucu !! I love you brother.”

The post was liked by Correa, who seems to have accepted his former teammate’s apology.

Following his move to Inter, Correa has been given regular game time by Simone Inzaghi, who has also arrived from Lazio this season. The Nerazzurri forward has scored two goals in his five games for Inter as they sit third in Serie A.
