Xavi’s position casts a shadow over Barcelona’s future deals

A report reveals the impact of statements and tensions between Xavi and the president of Barcelona on the chances of Guido Rodriguez’s transfer to the Catalan team

According to a press report published today, Saturday, it indicates that the current situation of coach Xavi Hernandez in Barcelona may hinder a deal that was about to join the team.

Tensions escalated in Xavi’s relationship with the president of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta, after his statements related to the team’s inability to compete with Real Madrid and other big clubs in Europe, due to the current economic conditions.

In this context, the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, an expert in the European transfer market, stated today, Saturday, through his account on the “X” platform, that Xavi’s position could jeopardize the deal of Guido Rodriguez, a midfielder for Real Betis, where the Spanish coach requested his inclusion during the summer transfer period.

Barcelona was about to sign the Argentine Rodriguez (30 years old), especially since his contract with Real Betis ends at the end of the current season.

Romano added: “The player is waiting to move to Barcelona, but the coach’s situation could be the main factor here.”

Xavi had announced his resignation from coaching Blaugrana, then he backed down from that decision and agreed with Laporta to stay, but things quickly deteriorated between them, which made the coach’s fate uncertain according to press reports.
